Peggy Liu, chairperson of the Joint U.S.-China Cooperation on Clean Energy (JUCCCE), visited New York University this week to discuss the future of green energy in China, and to recruit volunteer support for upcoming projects.
JUCCCE, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and San Francisco, is one of the main accelerators of the “green” China movement. Broadly speaking, the organization is making China more sustainable by initiating and facilitating an effective dialogue between the right people. According to Liu, “JUCCCE educates key decision makers in China on how to make smart energy decisions and exposes them to best-in-class products and services from around the world.”
They have an extensive list of volunteer opportunities available online.
Here is a description straight from JUCCCE:
Student volunteers have the chance to work closely with JUCCCE executives and leaders in the industry, and build their resumes with a well-known NGO. Because of the highly effective nature of our programs, students have the opportunity to create great impact in a short amount of time. Most interns have chosen to continue volunteering with JUCCCE during the school year after their internship.
JUCCCE Programs you can work on include:
o Mayoral Training Program on Energy Efficient Cities
o China Smart Grid Cooperative
o Green Heroes mobile outreach campaign
o Green Office in a Box program for healthier office build-outs
o Green Lights for All program to give 10 million CFLs to students
o Bilingual Energy Blueprint website
