Tonight, at the end of Barack Obama’s first full day as President, I am proud to be an American and excited about my country’s renewed commitment to transparency and accountability.
I was there Tuesday - along with 2 million other people - by the Washington Monument on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., about a mile away from the Capitol where Obama gave his speech.
“What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility,” he said.
May the rest of the world share this commitment, too.
