ResponsibleChina Recap 2007

happynewyear.gif
As ResponsibleChina approaches the New Year, I thought I’d highlight some of the progress we’ve made since this blog’s humble beginnings in July. (I talked about some of the things I learned along the way here and completed the blogger’s equivalent of housekeeping tasks here.)

Most recently, “I” became “we” when Mark Hiew joined as a contributing blogger. He is based in Chengdu - so if you’re the area, get in touch with him! He’d love to interview you.

You can now post announcements, events and listings on our ResponsibleChina job board and calendar.

You can tag your Flickr pictures to join the ResponsibleChina slideshow.

We joined the MyBlogLog community.

You can find some our stuff on the Hao Hao Report.

We participated in Blog Action Day.

I created a new Facebook profile and group, specifically to connect with people interested in China, the environment and social responsibility.

Danwei.org honored us with a “Responsible Worker Award” for best “Environment and corporate social responsibility (CSR)” blog and continues to syndicate our podcasts.

I interviewed three people — Caroline Campbell, Conrad Clark and Doug Ross — and continue to look for more guests.

We rose to an “Authority” rating of 55 on Technorati.

Our Technorati “Rank” reached 137,774 and steadily climbs.

The number of subscribers hovers around 100 people.

As of today, there are currently 115 posts and 62 comments, contained within 28 categories and 12 tags.

Taking a queue from Rich Brubaker at All Roads Lead to China, here is a ResponsibleChina Recap of 2007:

The top posts and pages:

  1. About Us
  2. China and Africa: A healthy relationship
  3. E-waste not, want not
  4. Dongtan - where’s the news?
  5. Total Recalls in Toyland or Mattel’s Hell
  6. Bamboo bicycles
  7. Energy-saving (or -wasting?) lightbulbs
  8. Life in a Chinese factory
  9. They’ve got Barbie now…
  10. EcoBlocks in China

The past three months have seen a dwindle in daily posts and regular updates, but I assure you that I will return with greater commitment and dedication in 2008. By then, I will be in Taiwan, brushing up on my Mandarin. And hopefully, with my newfound freedom and sense of adventure, I can put more energy into ResponsibleChina. (Shameless plug: You can also read up on my Taiwan experiences here: makapahai.wordpress.com.)
