Housekeeping tasks: apps, profiles, etc.

Seeing as it is a lazy Saturday afternoon, I thought it would be a good idea to inform you about some of the changes to my site (and my overall online presence…)
I’ve added some additional elements to my blog to help foster a greater sense of community:
- For VIDEOS: ResponsibleChina channel on YouTube
- I started my own channel on YouTube. Currently, I don’t have any original videos to upload, but I’ve been browsing the Internet for some interesting clips to share. Check it out!
- For JOBSEEKERS and RECRUITERS: ResponsibleChina Job Board, powered by JobThread
- Post job listings, volunteer gigs and freelance opportunities related to the environment, social entrepreneurship or CSR in China. International listings welcome. FREE to publicize!
- For SUPPORTERS: My new Facebook profile is “Erica Lee Schlaikjer.”
- So…I’ve been on Facebook since my sophomore year of college, back when it was only available to a select few colleges (does anyone remember that this whole phenomenon started with only the elite Ivy League institutions? Mark Zuckerberg, what hath you wrought??) Since then, after befriending hundreds of people, engaging in awkward “Wall” convos and poking wars, and posting one too many inappropriate pictures of myself, which were then regretfully broadcast on the “live” Newsfeed, I’ve had to create a separate profile. I must admit, it feels kind of weird. I don’t want to come across like a two-faced social networking addict who has spread herself too thin. But let’s be honest: college buddies and professional contacts don’t–and shouldn’t–mix. My best friends might not want to know about Evan Osnos’ latest article on Chinese migrant workers, and by the same token, my work acquaintances won’t be interested in what club I went to last night. It irks me a little that there is such a strong professional network on Facebook, now that the definition of “friend” has come to mean “business prospect,” but then again, I guess that’s what online social utilities are for–making connections, spreading the word and reaching out to people you might not otherwise meet in “real” life. So if you see me on Facebook, and you’re interested in what I do, add me as a friend and we’ll take it from there. I promise to keep it real.
- For DONATIONS: ResponsibleChina is now accepting donations through Paypal.
